Welcome at NetzwerkBildung, the network for media-critical education
To be able to take a "look behind the scenes" is an ability we lose more and more although it is urgently needed for a media-critical education at schools, universities and during teacher training.
Internet fraud often relies on the ignorance of people and producers of media devices use this to their advantage as well (if you think about the numerous new formats of videos where you also need a new programme for). It is useful for producers of software if the user is stuck to only one (their) format because that way they earn more money. This is only one out of many examples.
NetzwerkBildung wants to make you aware of an alternative to this. The project only works with open source programmes, which means that the source code is open to see (how else are you able to look behind the scenes?), and there are no licence costs.
NetzwerkBildung does not believe that a subject or a problem can only be solved with one specific programme because of its format.
NetzwerkBildung only makes products available that are subject to a licence that allows everyone to use the products freely. There is only one condition: Daughter products have to be subject to the same licence. That is how a sustainable pool of programmes for a media-critical education at schools, universities and during teacher training can grow and is available to everyone.
This is of great importance to us and this is what we strive for.
Thank you to the "producers" of the pupils CD (to be found under www.schueler-cd.dez ) and especially to Wolfgang Schwarz.
We also would like to thank the producers of the Seminar-CD (to be found under www.zfsl.nrw.de/semimat). They participated in creating the software compilation for instructors.
A warm thank you also to Guido Arnold of the "Free Software Foundation Europe " (FSFE) for his very helpful remarks and suggestions.
